About Me

My Background

I have always been drawn to the natural world and the quiet beauty it holds. As a younger artist I began painting landscapes in acrylics purely as a hobby, but set the brushes aside for roughly eleven years. In the winter of 2019 I returned to painting with a fresh perspective and chose a subject I had never attempted before—wildlife. That decision ignited a lasting passion.
I am a self-taught artist. While I have completed portraits and landscapes, my primary focus is wildlife, with occasional pet commissions. I am dedicated to fine detail and hyper-realism, working to capture each animal so vividly that it feels as though you could reach out and touch it. My process begins with an acrylic underpainting, followed by layers of oil to refine form, texture, and depth.
I paint what inspires me, and my hope is that the joy and connection these works bring me will be felt by others as well.
Most of the pieces on wood panels in my portfolio represent my most recent work. Those on canvas are earlier pieces from when I first returned to painting in late 2019.

My Medium

I begin each painting with an acrylic underpainting to establish the composition, values, and foundational color. Once this layer is complete, I transition to oils, building the work through successive layers that allow for refined detail and greater depth. This mixed-media approach enables me to achieve the high level of realism that defines my wildlife paintings. When the final details are in place, I sign the piece and protect it with a satin or gloss varnish, depending on the desired finish.
